R.M Wright/Bustamante Digester (3) Lid Lift, El Paso, TX
Anthony D. Ortiz, Alliance Riggers & Constructors
Alliance has had a long-standing successful relationship with El Paso
Water. Alliance had previously installed the same Digester Lid (12) years ago and utilized an LR
1280 & LR 1200 in tandem to hoist the Lid into place. Alliance submitted a 3D Lift Plan during
the bid process to present with and to allow the customer to have a better visualization of how
the lift would take place.
Alliance Riggers &
Constructors uses the capabilities of 3D Lift Plan to enhance their lifting projects at every stage,
showcasing their expertise and commitment to safety and efficiency.
As a versatile sales tool, 3D Lift Plan empowers Alliance Riggers & Constructors to
impress potential clients by visually presenting their lifting expertise and capabilities. This
dynamic representation serves as a compelling way to demonstrate our commitment to safety and
professionalism.
During the bid proposal preparation, 3D Lift Plan becomes an invaluable asset. It
strengthens their submissions by emphasizing safety and professionalism. The software's ability
to create detailed and comprehensive lift plans, considering load dimensions, weight, center of
gravity, environmental conditions, ground conditions, and potential obstacles. This not only
streamlines setup procedures but also mitigates potential risks, resulting in safe and efficient
crane positioning.
Planning for the lift also had its difficulties. The Digester Lid had been in its location for
approximately (12) years, had scale build up and needed an engineer review to ensure it could go
through the lifting process. The Lid was 90’ feet wide and consisted of (22) Steel Trusses, Steel
Ceiling Plates, and an exterior Steel Ring. The rigging designed by Alliance & Eddie Castle with
Kilo Structures started from top to bottom with (2) Steel Round Sling Wire Rope Grommets, (2)
75 Ton Wide Body Shackles, a Collector Ring, (32) 9.8 Ton Shackles, (32) Steel Slings, (16) 25
Ton Shackles, (16) 2” Turnbuckles, then lastly attaching to (16) Custom Fabricated &
Engineered Lifting Lugs which were Welded to the Trusses. In total the with rigging the Digester
Lid weighed 289,339lbs. 3D Lift Plan helped visualize and calculate the location and weights of
all the Rigging that was utilized.
3D Lift Plan has proven indispensable. Its collaborative features facilitate effective
communication among team members, enabling seamless coordination and better project
outcomes. The software generates comprehensive reports and documentation, ensuring
transparency and accountability in each phase of the project.
3D Lift Plan's visual representation, accurate lift planning, and collaborative features
contribute significantly to Alliance Riggers & Constructors' commitment to safety, efficiency,
and successful project execution. By leveraging the software's capabilities, we solidify our
position as a reliable and professional lifting service provider in the industry.
